Kuhron Walker breaks down to make the tackle vs Windsor on October 8th, 2021.
The East Hartford Hornets looked much improved this week on both sides of the ball, as they took down the Conard Chieftans 32-22. East Hartford revamped their offensive scheme to a run-heavy offense and the defensive line was just a havoc.
Player of the Game: Jayden Fields
Since my week five write up, I have preached about how East Hartford needs to lean more towards the run-game (especially with Jayden Fields in the backfield). Tonight, they finally did that and it made this East Hartford offense look like a powerhouse. “The Jaytrain” totaled 18 carries for 229 rushing yards (12.7 YPC) and 2 rushing touchdowns. Fields totaled 70 yards on his first two carries, which then led to quarterback Darrion Williams walking in a one yard touchdown on a QB-sneak for the first score of the game. The success of the run-heavy scheme only allowed Williams to throw the ball 8 times! The scheme change and heavy involvement of Jayden Fields was honestly something that should’ve been done weeks ago, as the results once again show why. The East Hartford offense next week will look to keep up the tempo vs a solid Simsbury Trojans team.
Kiawan Murphy once again put together another strong performance. The back-to-back DPOTG (week 7 & 8) totaled 4 solo tackles, 1 tackle for assist, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery and 3.0 sacks. Murphy and Tyris Cauley were the dynamic duo of this game, as both totaled a combined 15.5 tackles (7 solo’s, 2 tackle assists, and 6.5 sacks. Cauley led the team with 3.5 sacks). Murphy and Cauley were certainly game changers in this contest, as they only allowed Conard to score 22 points. The duo will certainly once again look to make another big impact vs a very solid Simsbury offense.

Darrion Williams on the 19 yard line feels the pressure and steps up in the pocket to throw it up in the back left corner of the endzone to David Pardo for a touchdown. Like I said last week, 50/50 balls do not exist in East Hartford, It’s really 80-20. This play sealed the game. Jayden Fields’ 61 yard rush on the second play of the game is the runner-up for play of the game, as it really set the tempo and consistency of the offense.
Notes:
-Tyris Cauley is our runner-up for DPOTG.
-East Hartford on the ground totaled 36 attempts, 362 rushing yards (10.05 YPA), and 4 touchdowns.
