The East Hartford Hornets on Friday night took on the Southington Blue Knights and got blown out of the waters 47-15. All around, it was a hard one to watch.
Player of the Game: There will not be a player of the game given out this week.
Offensive Player of the Game: Kameron Massey, Senior WR/DB
Nothing really happened offensively in this one at all. One of the better drives in this game was the second to last drive before the half. Kam caught three of his four-targets in this drive for 92 yards (30.6 YPR) and a touchdown (21 yards) on A “80/20 ball” (50/50 balls do not exist in East Hartford. First catch: 43 yards, second catch: 28 yards, third catch: 21 yard touchdown). After the half, Massey was targeted 7 more times but only caught two of them for 6 yards. Southington put constant pressure on Senior quarterback Darrion Williams, which most of East Hartford’s big plays came off of broken ones.
Defensive Player of the Game: Kiawan Murphy, Senior DL/OL
Many guys stepped up vs Southington on the defensive line against the pass rush, but as a group it was a struggle. Senior, Kiawan Murphy was certainly one of those guys who stepped up, as he totaled two solo tackles and three tackle for losses. Kiawan Murphy and Sophomore Jaylon Jackson were certainly in the backfield on almost every play vs the pass, the biggest issue was against the run towards the left side (which has been the biggest issue all season). Kiawan certainly had a day and everyone knew that he was out there. The defense next week will take on a solid Conard offense on their home turf, looking to bounce back from a horrendous loss.
Defensive Stats
Junior, DB/WR, Saquan Rosa: 4 solo tackles
Senior WR/EDGE, David Pardo: 3 solo tackles
Senior WR/DB, Kameron Massey: 3 solo tackles
Senior OL/DL, Kiawan Murphy: 2 solo tackles, 3 TFL
Senior LB/TE, Kuhron Walker: 2 solo tackles, 0.5 sack
Senior QB/DB, Darrion Williams: 2 solo tackles, forced fumble
Junior RB/EDGE, Kamari Hayes: 2 solo tackles
Senior DB/RB, Dillon Haughton: 1 solo tackle, 1 TFL
Sophomore DL/OL, Jaylon Jackson: 1 solo tackle, 1 TFL
Senior DL/OL, Kanye Harvey: 1 TFL
Senior DB/RB, Jayden Fields: 1 solo tackle
Junior EDGE/RB, Anthony Russello: 1 solo tackle
Play of the Game: Kuhron Walker, Senior TE/LB and Jamyron MaCray-Santana, Senior OL/DL
The defensive line puts significant pressure on Southington’s quarterback (D1 offer as a kicker from CCSU) from every side and LB Kuhron Walker and DL Jamyron MaCray-Santana came in from each side and completely sandwiched the quarterback.
